The Beginners Guide to Motorcycle Riding

Have you watched motorcycles go by and wished it were you but weren’t sure where to start? Here is a list of recommendations from Street Eagle:

  • Get your learner’s license. A quick visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles should net you a learner’s book on how to ride a motorcycle. This book will not only help you pass your written/computer motorcycle test to get your learners license, but it will teach you the most basic of motorcycle safety, how to ride, plus where and what the controls are.
  • With your learner’s license firmly in hand find a Motorcycle Safety Course. This course may give you more confidence, it may even tell you that motorcycling is not for you before you buy a bike or tell you which bike you should consider riding. But most of all this course could one day save your life!
  • Get your license! When you are ready for the real test go back to the Department of Motor Vehicles and arrange for a rider’s test. Having passed this motorcycle test your current driver’s license will be replaced with one that carries a motorcycle endorsement stamp. Now you are free to rent motorcycle, ride your buddy’s bike or buy your own!
  • Riding Gear. Get the best gear you can afford. Consider steel-toed construction boots, helmet, jeans and a leather motorcycle jacket. If you can afford all leather/textile motorcycle riding gear from the start, then go for it! Frankly, the odds are not in your favor during your first year of riding; you will probably fall down. It’s better to wear something that is going to protect yourself so you can get back up and ride again, until the next time you fall down.
  • Get a bike…call your insurance company…then go for a ride! You’ve earned it!!!

Street Eagle’s rental rules include: 21 years of age and a motorcycle endorsed license. Most affiliate stores offer insurance packages and helmets. Some offer leather gear for a minimal fee. Once you have that license there’s nothing to stop you from having a great ride on a well maintained Street Eagle bike.
